Spreading Joy during the Holidays – The Joy of Reading


Wow!  It is December already.  SHOP  for  your children’s seasonal selections?  Holidays are filled with all the fun things like decorating the tree, crafts, holiday songs, holiday food, and other great holiday stuff.  Making cookies.  Let your children read ingredients from holiday recipes while you bake together.  It’s a great way for them to practice reading.  They also can learn about measurements and temperatures at the same time.   Talk about colors that are seen during the holiday.  Read along words to songs.  One of the best ways to encourage a love of reading is to set aside time to share and read with your children every day.  Read everything they see, the road signs, the toy catalogs, the cook books, magazines, books of their choice and make some of them non-fictions.  Here are some great holiday songs.
